Dr. Dan Undersander grew up on a dairy farm in central Minnesota. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota in agronomy, and his M.S. and doctorate from Purdue University in the area of forage quality. He worked at the Amarillo Research Center of Texas A & M University and at Clemson University before joining the University of Wisconsin Faculty in 1988 as extension and research forage agronomist. He coordinates the multi-department Extension forages program at the University, conducts forage variety trials, and does research on near infrared reflectance (NIR) prediction of forage parameters, grazing, forage production and forage utilization.
